IN loving MEMORY
ANTHONY
Geary

On December 14, 2025, the world lost a true soap icon: Anthony Geary. He played Luke Spencer on General Hospital on and off for nearly four decades. I loved watching him because he portrayed a character who was fun, smart, and truly unique...one we all fell in love with. On May 21, 2015, I had the honor of interviewing Anthony in his dressing room. I was one of the last people to interview him before he retired from General Hospital and moved to Amsterdam. It’s an interview I will never forget. What an incredible honor it was to be in his dressing room with my husband and to interview someone we admired and loved so much. I remember writing in my journal that Anthony was a little shy at first, but so kind and open with me. When we released the interview, Anthony sent me a text that I have kept on my phone ever since: “Thank you, Paolo… You give great interview! I’ve rarely been able to watch myself through an entire segment without tearing out my hair. Like it or not I believe you managed to get the ‘real’ me, unplugged. You made the difference with your insightful questions and the alive and intelligent way in which you listened to this old thespian’s ramblings. Much love… TG. P.S. My thanks to Patrick for not making me look like an over-the-hill side-show freak from a geriatric kissing booth. Don’t laugh… it happens.” Tony texted me this on May 27, 2015, and I have treasured it ever since. I am forever grateful to Tony and for this beautiful interview. I love you, Anthony, and I hope you get to meet my mom up there. She was a huge fan of Luke and Laura, and I’ll never forget how proud she was when I told her I had booked Anthony Geary on A Spoonful of Paolo.
